How is that working out for us, America?
These stories keep being printed and I keep wondering why there isn’t anyone in our Government that wants to even consider a different approach. or maybe they are just as much on the take from organizations of crime as the ones in Mexico?
Makes you think, doesn’t it? But as our roads crumble, our students get lessor and lessor education quality and our country becomes less competitive, we continue to throw billions of dollars at the War on Drugs.
While our prison system makes us the most incarcerated society on Earth from the arrests made in an effort to stem drug use, drug use is the same or worse than it was when this war began.
Can’t we come up with better ways to keep our citizenry from craving illicit drugs? Groups like the Sinaloa cartel in the article would have no market if our country wasn’t so wanton about coke, marijuana and heroin.
Honestly, I am not sure how to even start to find ways. But the old saw “doing the same thing and expecting different results” makes me wonder why we don’t have a plan B. Plan A, like most of our war efforts after WWII, has been an abject failure. Time for a fresh approach.
